MGT Teesside’s £650million biomass power plant is now the largest of its kind in the world. The plant, which is fuelled by woodchips and pellets, has the capacity to generate electricity for the equivalent of 600,000 homes. MGT Teesside says that the plant will help to create a “low carbon economy” and that it will be a “key driver” in the region’s transition to a cleaner energy mix. The company also says that the plant will create more than 200 jobs during its construction phase and that it will make a “significant contribution” to the local economy. Redcar bulk terminal ltd is one of the best deep water facilities of its type in the UK.
